Whalers

What hockey fan doesn't have a soft spot in their heart for the Hartford Whalers?

Fantastic!! Hey Rob, continuing along the nostalgic theme, could you *please* draw a model wearing a Winnipeg Jets jersey??

Love your illustrations and your blog.

I gotta commission you to do an Oilers girl. Edmonton's a college town, full of clever tipsy girls, if that helps.

Utopia!

Props to you for using a sweater with Pucky the Whale on the shoulder. Well done.

(I would have also accepted the girl in Cooperalls with the sweater tied up in a half-shirt!)

I love anything Hartford Whalers related, so this pin-up girl in a classic Whalers jersey is awesome in my book. However, the logo on the jersey the girl is wearing is incorrect. That is actually the 1992-1997 logo, in white and without the silver background. During these years the Whalers did not wear green jerseys. During their green jersey years (1979-1992), their logo was indeed white on the green jerseys, but it had a differently shaped whale tail, and the center vertical line in the W was shorter. Somewhat subtle differences, but very obvious to hardcore Whalers fans like myself. Since you're an artist you will notice the differences in shape between the 1979-1992 logo and the 1992-1997 logo right away. Both of these logos appear on the following site:

Definitely need a Winnepeg girl and how about a Quebec Nordique girl, maybe wearing a beret?

A Nordiques girl is imminent, as it's one of my top five fave jerseys ever...it's just a matter of findin' the time!

Refound your blog through UniWatch and remembered this jersey. I gotta say, I love the old Whalers gear, and I'm 23.

Keep us informed if you come to Connecticon. I'd make a trip there just to see your both and drop some cash.

I played as the Whalers in NHL 95 just to hear Brass Bonanza. Helped make me a hockey fan.

Any chance you can do one in Sharks colors?

Any chance I can get a copy of the original design in a higher resolution? I am trying to use the design for the logo on our Adult Hockey Team's jerseys. Keep up the good work, Robert!

Didn't realize I'd missed all these recent comments!

Scott: I've done a few girls in Sharks colors over the last couple years...Take a look through the archives and you'll find 'em. And you can always commission your own!

Andrew: Actually, I really can't throw you a higher-res copy, as this was technically a private commission for somebody...but I'd be happy do do one especially for you if you're interested!

This is perfect (...well, if only the girl was a red head).

My beer league team used this design as the logo for our jerseys. We have 2 sets (home whites and road navys). Such a killer design. Keep up the good work!!!
