(1) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Detroit Red Wings
I simply cannot tell you how sick I am of drawing pictures of girls in Red Wing jerseys. I am as tired of it as I am excited about drawing girls in Pens sweaters. Every year, every round, there they are...as inescapable as death itself. Plus, the fact that they play in Detroit means that no one will ever have the scratch to buy any of the original art. For me, it's a lose-lose situation.
Still, picking the Sharks to win would be an inexcusable affront to whatever feeble claim on journalistic integrity I have. I know they're going to choke, you know they're going to choke...hell, I'm sure even they know they're going to choke. It kills me to admit and I'd love to see San Jose prove me wrong, but you can't fight fate. Red Wings in six.
(2) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (3) Vancouver Canucks
A few weeks back, maybe mid-March, I was about halfway through a five-mile run, and a weird premonition of the Penguins and Canucks popped into my head. As the season wound down, it looked less and less likely, and kinda fell to the back of my consciousness...but with all the wacky events of the past week, the scenario, while still highly unlikely, now at least approaches the realm of possibility.
I'm also a little down on the Blackhawks...they've traditionally been among the small group of teams I don't hate, and in fact root for when my horse isn't in the race. But they've got the stink of Hossa on 'em this year, which I'd kinda forgotten about until he Ovechkined Nashville's Dan Hamhius last weekend. Dude is such a turd. As amazing and satisfying as it'd be to watch him lose in the Stanley Cup Finals for a third straight year, I'm afraid that with many of the East's top seeds having choked in the first round that if the Hawks make it that far he might actually lift The Cup. *shudder* It's too gross an image to consider.
Anyway, it's kind of a toss-up, but I'm thinking Luongo and the Sedin-bots will get it done. Canucks in seven.

Typical shittsburgh biased opinion. Always hating on the Blackhawks. Do you work for ESPN?
Take a look through the last year's worth of posts, bub...I've never had anything but great things to say about the Blackhawks. This is the first time I've ever said anything remotely negative about them or any other team from Chicago. Typical behavior for turds who post anonymously.
You specifically say you don't hate the 'Hawks, and even root for them, and this dude still hates on you.
I agree with the Hossa stink. He turned down the Kings to go to Chicago, which I think was probably a good thing for LA. Though I would love to see him lose another Stanley Cup.
As much as I want to root for Vancouver, I've never felt good about rooting for the team that busts your team. Tho I suppose it makes it better knowing you lost to the team that won it all.
I think you guys definitely made the right choice in Scuderi over Hossa. Him plus with Doughty and Kopitar over the next buncha years? Watch out Western Conference!
So what if Hossa is a "choke artist" in the playoffs, that doesn't mean he's the worst player in the history of the NHL.
But then again Pittsburgh fans are morons, they dont acknowledge any team outside of their metro area.
Not to mention that you have a undying hatred for all Chicago Teams, especially the Cubs and Blackhawks. Sure they maybe the worst teams in the history of their leagues but I rather be a fan of the worst team in the league than a fan of a team that considered moving to Kansas City.
Try and keep up, Anonymous. Nobody ever said Hossa was the worst player in the history of the NHL. I just think it's funny...no, hilarious...for such a skilled guy to hop from team to team, ever chasing an elusive Stanley Cup.
Anyway, I started this response before seeing your third post, where you baselessly speak of my "undying hatred for all Chicago teams". This comment leads me to think that you're either putting me on, or dumber than shit, and either way, I won't bother responding again.
Love the Red Wings jersey girl. Great work as always! With that said...I'm hoping it's the last one you get to draw for a long time. Being a Sharks fan I honestly think they have the goods to get past Detroit this year.
I didn't know Chicago fans were so sensitive?
Rob, great job on your 1st round predictions!! (well, in the west you went 3-1 & the east you went 1-3...but got the PENS & Sharks DEAD on...alot better than most "experts".
My girlfriend & I would love a Pens-Canucks series (though she loves the Pens, she really want's Vancouver so her "name" gets on the cup & has me commission a 2nd piece from you).
SJ's 3 goals were a fluke, Detroit outplayed them the whole game, I wouldn't worry about it...
Pens in 5 over the Habs...the Penguins are a better "team" than the Capitals (who is a great group of talent, but lack any depth than most playoff teams).
Someone call hell, I found myself rooting for Montreal to beat the Caps...never thought I could root for the French...
lets see a habs girl. you don't have to pick them to win, I would just like to see one.
P.S All of your pics are cool man keep it up.
I've thrown the Habs a good deal of love in the past...have a look!

I always enjoy seeing more ladies in Wings jerseys! Pens/Wings round III? We can only hope!
As long as we have Toews, I don't care that Hossa brings some bad Karma with him. I don't see anyone short of Pittsburgh taking us out. We are in the Canucks heads (again!, thanks big Buff!) and we match up terrifically with the Sharks. The Penguins will cause us problems because they are the only team that has the type of players willing to do the dirty work necessary to win a championship. You guys worry about your own teams, I'll worry about my Blackhawks.
You have to like the Sharks against the Hawks after they destroyed Detroit in 5 games. Lets see a new Sharks chick!
