Liberez le Rocket

The trip to SPX over the weekend was awesome...more on that as soon as I scrape up some pictures to go along with my con report. Meantime, here's a little treat: an actual new comic! I laid out this strip years ago, planning to run it in Old-Timey Hockey Tales, but got busy with paying work and never finished it. It laid there in my flat file until I was asked by my pal Teebz, who writes the excellent Hockey Blog in Canada, to fill in with a post or two during his month-long vacation in September. I figured it was time to dust it off and complete it, and I managed to add some color as well. I had a few prints of the strip made up to take along to SPX...if there's interest, I'll go ahead and add some ordering info to the blog here.

So enjoy, and here's hoping my attempt at writing en francais isn't too embarrassing!

That was excellent. As you know, I'm not the biggest sports fan, but that strip had me riveted to the end. Nice job!

That's awesome, and educational. I knew nothing of this story before I read this comic Rob. Very interesting.

How hockey changed the world! The Canadian part, anyway. Love it Rob!

Definitely add to this your store because I'd love a print. This really makes me regret missing SPX even more. Damn work! And I'd really love another volume of Old-Timey Hockey Tales...but you're probably tired of hearing me request that.

Hey not really on topic, but I thought you would think this was pretty cool. Just had it done last night.

Yeah no problem, I got it at Bodhi Tattoo in Sand City California. Have always wanted a pinup tattoo but could never decide on what style I wanted, then found your site/work through the interview you had with uniwatchblog, and as a teacher, when I saw that piece in your archives I just had to have it. Sorry for the couple of liberties taken with it(hair, book) but I definitely love it. Let me know if you want any other info or pictures. Keep up the great work man!

duuude, you wrote a strip about Rocket Richard?? You're practically Canadian now! Seriously though, my 3 favourite hockey players of all time are 1) Maurice Richard, 2) Mario Lemieux and 3) Wendell Clark. I actually met #3 once and it was a thrill.

Wow I didn't know Michael Cho commented on here, I follow both of your blogs!
I loved this strip.
Thanks for sharing.
You always have the coolest info.

What do you make prints on ?
